[Ad] I can also do savory!

Some time ago Market Grounds asked me if I want to try the crisps of John & John. How could I say ‚No’ to this offer?! 😉 Unfortunately it took a little time until I had the time to create something because there was so much to do in my job. But today I finally have the first recipe for you!

John and John are two Englishmen, a potato farmer and an Adventurer, which someday decided to produce tasty potato crisps with selected spices and ingredients. Now they have 6 different sorts, namely…

…No. 1: Deep Blue Sea Salt
…No. 2: Sweet Chili & Red Pepper
…No. 3: Aspall Cyder Vinegar
…No. 4: Suffolk Cheddar & Chives
…No. 5: Sea Salt & Black Pepper
…No. 6: Mixed Roots

Sounds tasty, doesn’t it? But I didn’t began with the first sort. I started with No. 4 and they inspired me to tasty filled turnovers with cheddar! A tip in advance: Eat them when they are still warm. When they cool too long the melted cheese isn’t that tasty anymore.

Ingredients
  1. 200 ml milk
  2. 100 ml sunflower oil
  3. 1 pack of baking powder
  4. 2 eggs, separated
  5. 1 tsp salt
  6. ½ tsp sugar
  7. pepper
  8. about 200 g flour
  9. 200-300 g Cheddar
  10. chives
Instructions
  1. Mix milk, oil, baking powder, egg white, salt, pepper and sugar. Add the flour and knead it with the dough hooks of your mixer until you have a dough you can handle to turnovers. If you want you can also knead in some of the chives (cut into small pieces before).
  2. Preheat the oven to 200 °C/390 °F.
  3. Now cut pieces from the dough (I used about 1-2 teaspoons), form it into a ball and flatten it on a dusted surface until you have a circle. Spread some chives on it and place the cheddar in the middle (take as much as you want). Seal the turnovers, place them on a baking tray covered with parchment paper and baste them with egg yolk.
  4. Place them in the oven and let them bake until they’re golden, about 15-20 min. If you like you can cover them with cheddar while they are baking.
  5. I spreaded some of the crisps over them. So they were a little crunchy and more spicy.
